Age Groups & Prizes
Prizes for the event are awarded for the following categories and age groups.
1500m Event
The main event is the 1,500m distance. In 2011, 1500m male and female winners overall received vouchers to the value of $150 (1st), $100 (2nd) and $75 (3rd) each. Male and female age group winners received a medallion and a prize. Age groups are as follows: Under 15, 15 - 24, 25 - 34, 35 - 44, 45 - 54, 55 - 64, 65 - 74, 75 and over.
The 1,500m swim is an event in the Dale Alcock Open Water Swim Series and masters club swimmers will be awarded points as part of this series using MSWA's standard 5 year age groups. Please note that these 5 year age group results are provided MSWA after the event and do not form part of the event results announced on the day.
750m Event
The 750m event is to encourage participation of the more social swimmer. Male and female age group winners will each receive a medallion and age groups are as follows: Under 10, 10 - 14, 15 - 24, 25 - 34, 35 - 44, 45 - 54, 55 - 64, 65 - 74, 75 and over.
Please note that 5 year age groups are NOT used for official recording or results in either the 1,500m or 750m race distances. 10 year age groups are used in both events to ensure there are sufficient entries in each age group. At present, "winners" are announced and the organising committee has determined this to be sufficient as significant additional presentation time and administration would result if 5 year age groups were to be used in either or both events.
